SipLeague guide

Use venue data carefully

Venue discovery is most trustworthy when stable identity facts are kept separate from information that can change from hour to hour. A directory result is a lead for discovery, not a guarantee that a venue is open or that a specific drink is currently available.

Three kinds of venue information

Relatively stable identity

Name, city, country and a source identifier usually change slowly. These are useful for finding the right brewery or venue record.

Changeable operating details

Opening hours, visitor access, booking rules and website information can change. Check the venue’s own current information before travelling.

Highly changeable availability

Tap lists, menus, packaged stock and seasonal releases can change during the same day. A directory record should never be treated as live inventory.

What the Brewery Finder does

The Brewery Finder helps identify brewery records by name or place. Results can include source-based location and brewery information. They are not a statement that a brewery is open right now, accepts visitors, serves on-site, or currently stocks a particular beer.

Source boundary

Where SipLeague displays records from a third-party brewery directory, the source should stay visible. SipLeague should not silently turn directory data into stronger claims than the source supports.

Why a personal history is different

My Sips can remember that you encountered a drink at a venue, but that is a fact about your past experience. It should not automatically become a public claim such as “this venue currently serves this drink.”

A practical check before you go

  1. Use SipLeague to identify the venue or brewery.
  2. Open the venue’s own current website or contact channel when available.
  3. Confirm opening hours, visitor access and booking requirements.
  4. If you want one specific packaged product or tap beer, confirm availability directly.
  5. Treat old My Sips venue memories as history, not a stock feed.

Location privacy matters too

Venue discovery should work without publishing a user’s private movement history. A personal place memory belongs with the user’s account or local experience unless they explicitly choose a future sharing feature. Structured discovery avoids turning every scan, rating or save into a public check-in.

Useful discovery without public comments

SipLeague does not need free-form public venue comments to make discovery useful. Clear source attribution, structured venue identity, careful freshness language and links to authoritative venue information can provide more reliable next steps while reducing moderation and misinformation risks.
